Kellan’s Lutz PETA Campaign – Adopt Don’t Buy

This is the way to use star power! Kellan Lutz has joined PETA to encourage Twilight fans to rescue a shelter dog rather than buy a purebred pup from a pet store. Lutz is pictured here with his rescued mutt, Kola, who was a frightened canine just waiting for someone to save her from a California animal shelter.

Shelter staff discouraged Lutz from picking Kola as a pet because they claimed she pulled on her leash and therefore not a good pet candidate. Lutz didn’t care. He saw something in the depressed pup’s face that drew him to her. After Kola was taken out of her cage, she gave Lutz a canine hug (putting her head between his legs), and he was convinced that she was the furry companion for him.

PETA stated that there are over 8 million dogs and cats that find themselves in animal shelters every year. Half of these animals get euthanized due to lack of space. Lutz saved one of these animals that face possible death, and he now has a furever best friend!

In Lutz’ PETA campaign, his words to Twilight fans was ”For the fans of Twilight who have so much love for the books, these characters give that love to a pet if you don’t have one… Twilighters if you can, do adopt a pet!”
